FRED L. "BUBBA" COPELAND (MAY 27, 1974 -NOVEMBER 3, 2023) - A DECEPTIVE MASTER OF DISGUISES

God had given F.L. "Bubba" Copeland a good life, with a loving family and many friends to show for it.  He was a leader in his community serving as Mayor of Smiths Station - Alabama, and the Pastor of Phenix City Alabama First Baptist church. Yet he was not content and coveted being a woman, instead of the good man God created him to be. So he took to leading a double life of sin.   As such, his actions and reactions confirmed a spiritual warfare struggle: 

"But I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members" (Romans 7-23).

Sin strongholds began to rule Bubba's mind early in life, as a cross dressing youth.  In adult hood he used these same coping measures, as he sought to fulfill deep, secret longings creating a "curvy girl" transgender identity for himself.  1819 News reported Bubba out (retrieved 11/8/2023 - www.1819news.com), citing he was "...playing out online on social media and Reddit.  And operating on social media accounts as a transgender woman under the pseudonym Brittini Blaire Summerlin.   .... The profile includes regular posting of Copeland in various outfits, some more racy than others.  He also posted boudoir pictures of himself in women's underwear."

Bubba Copeland, was a husband, father and stepfather, who fronted being a man called by God to be a spiritual leader and church pastor.  After being outed by 1819 News for his double life, he gave comment in livestreamed service on Nov. 1, 2023: "I have been an object of an Internet attack.  The article is not who or what I am....I apologize for any embarrassment caused by my private and personal life that has become public.  This will not waver my devotion to my family, serving my city, serving my church.  I'm thankful for the grace of God and the willingness to forgive. I have nothing to be ashamed of.  A lot of things that were said were taken out of context.  In conclusion, I love my family, they're number one.  And, again, I'm sorry for what my actions have caused."  

Denial and projection is a common tacit and trait of sex addicts.   As noted, family was cited as holding first place in Copeland's life, not God.  There is also no mention of devotion to God and obedience to His Holy word, Law and Commandments within his statement.  Copeland's mention of: "the grace of God" is a mockery of Our Holy Father's salvation plan, in accordance to the life he led.    Jesus said,..."Truly, truly I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God" (John 3:3).  

Once saved, one is born again, striving to separate from the sin infused world in which we live.  But as the One who called you is holy, you also are to strive to be holy in your conduct (1 Peter 1:15).    This is God's ongoing sanctification plan.  Christians therefore, are to make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14).   Which does not mean we are to disregard blatant, offensive sin!  On the contrary, those who persist in sin, are to be rebuked in the presence of all, so that the rest may stand in fear (1 Timothy 5:20).   

When first interviewed by 1819 News, Copeland denied having any knowledge of the accounts, but when made aware of his social media evidence, he quickly admitted his actions, confirming his wife was aware of his activity, but no one else in the community knew.  His actions and reactions serve to confirm illogical summations mounted within his mind, as he touted his play times were just to "get rid of stress ...a hobby (since youth) and a fantasy...the erotica 'purely fiction.'"  

November 3, 2023, 1819 News reported that Copeland had written fiction containing violent fantasies and had republished photos of people within his community without consent.  All of which I have read, reviewed, and was repulsed to learn.  One of his deadly obsession stories included a local female business owner, whose life (and husband) he coveted and desired to replace for his own!  Describing having sex as a transgender woman, with the husband in very explicit, erotic, titillating detail.  

Additionally, "An acquaintance of Copelands said that he had posted her name and social media photos online; she also recognized the names of local women in Copeland's allegedly fictional stories, calling the writing 'disturbing'" (Wikipedia retrieved 11/10/2023).  I call Copeland's proclaimed fictional writings seeded and fed pornographic obsessions.

 These postings were reported to be on Reddit as well as a private Instagram account, on which Bubba-as Brittini encouraged contact.  He at times also wore some of his wife's clothes, and commented on other posts, encouraging transgender individuals to go on Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT).    He wrote transgender pornography, some with "vivid captions describing himself as being a 'whore' and getting 'f****d."  During his "alter-ego" online activity timeline, Copeland continued to maintain his work identity as town Mayor and Pastor, preaching and singing in church as usual.  

Copeland further stated his cross dressing "hobby" was used as "a release from anxiety."  Confirming he was not ashamed of his actions.  As his private life had nothing to do with what he did "in my holy life." He asked, "Does this have any effect on being mayor, that I sometimes put on a dress or sometimes put on makeup?  Does that have anything to do whatsoever with me being a mayor or being a pastor?"  

Yes, it most certainly does, says God within His biblical word.   Money and the positions of power Copeland held within his small community, hold forth accountability before both God and man.  As do all our life choices.  For we know just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because of sin (Romans 5:12). Copeland did not live a repentant holy life.  Quite the opposite, he led a very deceptive, sin intrenched, infected life.  

God has forewarned all humanity to not be deceived by falsity (Matthew 24:4).  In later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons (1 Timothy 4:1; 2 Timothy 4:3-4).   It is only by way of sincere repentance, asking God for forgiveness of sin, that brings forth His saving grace, mercy, and love (John 3:16-17).  By their fruits you will know them (Matthew 7:16-23).  Copeland flaunted his sin before God and sought to live life according to his own will, not God's.  In so doing, he placed God last in life, bringing accursed sin into the church he pastored.  A church he had spiritual charge over.  

No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other.  You cannot serve God and money (Matthew 6:24).  Only when we turn our face away from self-centered mirrored reflection, and turn to the face of Jesus, our Holy Father, are we made whole. 

Doug Jones, the former U.S. democrat senator from Alabama, gave statement:

 "I am so saddened at the death of my friend Mayor Bubba Copeland.  He was a good man and a great mayor who led the small town of Smith Station through the tough times of a davastating tornado a few years ago.  I toured the destruction with him, helped him navigate the FEMA reccory efforts and made susre he was able to plead his case directly to President Trump.  It is sad and disgusting how he was treated by the 1819 News for personal decisions however misguided they might have been.  We live in a mean, bitter world where the self-righteous tend to throw the largest stones and the 1819 News is the perfect example."  

Does Doug Jones desire to change the Constitution and eliminate the 1st Amendment, concerning honest reporting affecting the public health and welfare (privacy infractions were numerous) of his female victims?  1819 News practiced honest reporting of Mayor and Preacher, F.L. "Bubba" Copeland's vexing double minded life choices involving the defamation of at least two innocent female victims.

"Two women who claimed to be victims of deceased Smiths Station Mayor F. L. "Bubba" Copeland told parts of their story during the 6 p.m. broadcasts of Columbus, Ga.'s WTVM Monday evening news.  Recently, 1819 News revealed Copeland wrote erotic fiction about murdering a real-life local business owner to steal her life, as well as posting pictures of other locals with explicit commentary without their consent.  Ansley Summerlin, who alledged Copeland used her identity, told WTVM her name and likeness appeared on mutiple porn sites. " ...and he proceeded to use my first and middle names on these sites.  And I believe there are about nine sites now that have five or six photos of my face and my name across the net." 

The second alleged victim, identified as a "local hairstylist in Smiths Station," also discussed her likeness being used in Copeland's writings.  "It said my first and last name....And it was basically describing the way that I look and intensified, I guess, as a porn star.  And it went into very graphic detail.  I didn't get past the first page because I honestly couldn't stomach it." Bubba Copeland's pastorally sin cursed influence upon America's - Alabama's youth (Associate Press Retrieved 11/9/2023) also speaks volumes:  

Chad Peacock, a former Auburn resident, said Copeland was one of the few elected officials to show support for a local Pride event he organized.  He said he believed the anti-GBTQ climate in the state bears some responsibility for Copeland's suicide.  "You have to fit the box.  You can be who you are, but you should be ashamed of who you are if your different," Peacock said of the * atmosphere.  

Religious, and spiritual differences mount when LGBYTQ advocates desire to bring their sin into the mainline, God fearing Christian church.  The greatest gift one can give such lost and troubled souls, is to lead them towards God's saving grace (John 3:16-17).  So that they may grow past a babe on milk, and onto solid biblical truths that transform (1 Corinthians 3:2).

COPELAND LACKED HUMILITY AND LIVED LIFE ON HIS OWN TERMS, NOT GOD'S:

Humility and obedience towards God's word brings forth inner peace.  Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like (James 1:23-24).   When we see ourselves as the "wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked" sinners we truly are (Revelation 3:17).   We come to realize in repentant humility, that God, through the power of His Holy Spirit, is the only one who can change us.   Jonathan Edwards wrote, "Humility is a great and most essential thing in true religion. The whole frame of the gospel, everything appertaining to the new covenant, and all God's dispensations towards fallen man, are calculated to bring to pass this effect."

Copeland was reported by 1819 News to have deleted the online accounts in question and asked that they not be made public due to his family and position as pastor.  He was obviously seriously concerned what others would think if they were to find out about his double life.  As pastor, he was paid by way of faithful Christian's paying their tithe money in support of God's work and call.   No one likes to be betrayed.  I surmise that most all true born-again Christians would not pay tithe to support the likes of Copeland's double life filled with lust and covetous sin.  For they would know his unfaithful actions and reactions God hates (Proverbs 6:16-19; Revelation 3:15-17).   And they would know one cannot serve God's good cause and serve Satan's evil cause too!  For whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin (James 4:17).  

 True born again Christians, also know, Copeland was not wise as did not fear God (Proverbs 9:10).   By way of his life's example one knows he did not live his life as a new creation, whereby the old had passed away; and behold, the new has come (2nd Corinthains 5:17).   He lived a life of fear of what man could do to him, instead of allowing God to save and deliver him (Psalm 56:11).  

God will not be mocked, what a man sows he will also reap (Galations 6:7).   The wages of sin bring death, and the gift of eternal life and hope in and through Jesus Christ is true (Romans 6:23; Jeremiah 29:11).  In the end of 1819 news reporting of truth ordeal, Copeland committed suicide by way of a self-inflicted gun shot wound.  It is reported that a wellness call had been placed on his behalf, and police took care to pursue and follow him while he was driving his car.  It was then Copeland chose death instead of life and shot himself.   

F.L. "Bubba" Copeland's life story did not have to end in such tragedy.  As spiritual healing is available for all who call upon God in sincere repentance (John 3:16-17; Romans 10:10; 1st John 4:15).  He heals the broken hearted and binds up their wounds (Psalm 147:3).  He restores beauty for ashes (Isaiah 61:3).  His healing power is a surety (1 Peter 2;24; Isaiah 53:5; Exodus 15:26).

As for those who are among the liberal woke and claim public shaming as the cause of Copeland's life choices, and eventual death.   They are of a blind mind set as Satan, the god of this world has blinded their minds, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel and glory of Christ, who is the image of God (2nd Corinthains 4:4).  For the reality is that such a sinful double-life as Copeland led, is in itself most difficult and stressful to maintain.   Having anchored such a double mind regarding sin as a youth, he had vast experience in sin's deceptive stealth betrayal forays.  His addiction to lust and sexual pleasure yielded forth a mental betrayal, as his stress and anxiety levels took an ever growing toll on his life.  

If one follows Copeland's double-minded life example, they too can fall into the same deep pit (Matthew 15:14).  Which is why I have prayed often for Bubba Copeland's wife and family, that God heal their wounds (3 John 1:2).   "One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much" (Luke 16:10).   "Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out" (Proverbs 10:9).  

IN SUMMARY:

 F.L. "Bubba" Copeland took his own life when the dark side of sin's trauma and sorrow weighed deep.  By way of such life to death examples (Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus Christ, and then committed suicide) we learn a great biblical truth:  Satan, the thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy! (John 10:10).  

 It has been said by many who personally knew Bubba, that he gave of himself sacrificially in service to his family, city, and church.  Obedience to God, is better than sacrifice (1 Samuel 15:22).  His greatest fault in life, was not his "he/she" lust coveted secret double life.   It is the fact that he did not fear God.  For it is the fear of the Lord that is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One that brings forth understanding (Proverbs 9:10). Fools despise wisdom and instruction (Proverbs 1:7).   Fearing God in a biblical context means one reveres and obeys God's word, will, and ways, hates evil, pride, arrogance, and perverted speech (Proverbs 8:13). 

JESUS CHRIST IS THE BONDAGE BREAKER!

We all have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).  Therefore, the greatest truth in life to be understood is the fact that Jesus Christ, the Holy One, loves each and every one of us despite our sin! CNN, Larry King Live, December  22, 2009, aired the program topic, life after death titled, "Seeing The  White Light."  The panel of guests on the television show included New  Age author and metaphysical seeker, Dr. Deepak Chopra, who made the  comment during conversation, "Hope is a sign of despair."  I agree with  Henryk Sienkiewiez, "The greater the philosopher, the harder it is for  him to answer the questions of the average man."  I shook my head in  disbelief, striving to comprehend a life without the hope of our  heavenly Father's love.  A life without the providence of God's mighty  hand of grace and mercy. God's word states in Proverbs 13:12, "Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life."

THERE IS HOPE IN GOD'S PROVIDENCE 

"...Those who hope in the Lord will  renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles; they will  run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." -  Isaiah  40:30-31.

HOPE IS "A GIFT FROM GOD"

Walter was driving in the rain on a  long distance winter trip when he decided to stop for lunch at a truck  stop.  Before going inside, he noticed a rather gruff looking middle  aged man in tattered clothing, sitting hovered under the corner of the  roof line of the restaurant, trying to avoid the rain.   Walter said a  silent prayer to God for him before going inside the busy restaurant.   He then took a seat at the counter bar to eat, ordering a bowl of hot  vegetable soup with a side of saltine crackers.  

Lunch hit the spot  in Walter's stomach on such a cold and rain soaked day.  Before paying  for his meal, Walter felt an urge within his heart, quickened by the  Holy Spirit, to order another bowl of soup and crackers to go.  He then  asked the waitress to give it to the man outside, telling him, "This is a  gift from God."  The waitress smiled in agreement, commenting, "God is  good, isn't He."

Continuing his trip, Walter drove into  the late night hours.  Struggling to keep his eyes on the road  while remaining awake, became a rather grueling chore.  His worn wind  shield wipers didn't seem to be keeping up with the torrent of rain  pouring down.  Going around a curve, Walter lost control of his car,  ending up in a ditch, unconscious.  Within minutes a lone stranger  driving by noticed the wreckage, and stopped to help.  Unable to call  911 due to the lack of cell phone coverage on the patch of rural country  road, the stranger helped Walter into his car and took him home. 

Once they arrived, the stranger and  his wife helped Walter.  The man gave Walter a fresh change of clothing,  and his wife warmed a hot bowl of vegetable soup.  Sitting at their  kitchen table, Walter also noted a small plate of chipped china covered  with saltine crackers.  Tears welled up in Walter's eyes as the Holy  Spirit's still small voice whispered, "this is a gift from God."  Not  only had God arranged Walter's safety, health, and comfort.   He once  again had confirmed His love.  

Taking a bite of saltine cracker, Walter  smiled remembering the written word of God in Matthew 5:13-16, "You  are the salt of the earth.  But if the salt loses its saltiness, how  can it be made salty again?  It is not longer good for anything, except  to be thrown out and trampled by men.  You are the light of the world.  A  city on a hill cannot be hidden.  Neither do people light a lamp and  put it under a bowl.  Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives  light to everyone in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine  before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in  heaven." 

OUR HOPE IS IN JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD! 

God's plan for His children is always  filled with hope and a good future (Jeremiah 29:11).  Being kind to  others, shows the world an example of Christ's loving kindness.  The  word God is included within the word good.  When good deeds are done,  God's presence is ever near.  Miracles happen when we place our hope in  Jesus!  Salvation in Christ is based on the glorious hope of all saints  in the "resurrection of the dead," and eternal life (Acts 23:6; 26:6-8;  26:22-23; 28:20).   

Christ Jesus is our hope (1st Timothy 1:1; Ephesians  1:11).  "I keep asking the God of our Lord  Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and  revelation, so that you may know Him better.  I pray also that the eyes  of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the "hope"  to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in  the saints, and His incomparably great power for us who believe,"  (Ephesians 1:17-18).
