Jerry & Becky Falwell & the Collapse Evangelical Dynasty, has hypocrisy at root.
First incident at cause of Chrisian poser, Jerry Falwell Jr.'s downfall was that he was a false, fake, and flaky person at heart. Non-Christians should not be attempting to work as God's born again Elect. Yet, Falwell Jr., strove to do so without a smidgen of conviction. His late father, Jerry Falwell Sr., was well known as a conservative Christian founder of the moral majority, and Liberty University. Sad to say, he did not follow in his father's footsteps.
Falwell Jr. posted a picture on Instagram while on a yacht with his pants unzipped, his arm around a long haired brunette raven women (who too had her shorts unzipped). The expression on his face in the photograph is worth a thousand words. His smirk smile, and the devious twinkle in his eyes was that of a very rebellious adult child. After this strange and unusual incident, it was reported that he took a leave of absence from Liberty University.
BBC News (www.bbc.com retrieved 12-3-2023): "Mr Falwell had conceded that the photo was "weird" but defended it as "all in good fun". But his actions provoked accusations of hypocrisy. Liberty University has a strict code of conduct for how students must behave, including barring premarital sex and the consumption of media with sexual content and nudity."
WEIRD WORLDY ADULTEROUS CHRISTIAN POSERS ARE DEEMED A DOOMED ENEMY IN THE EYES OF GOD! (JAMES 4:4).
Followed were allegations that Falwell's wife, Becki, had a six year affair (some reports claim seven years) with Giancarlo Granda, who was a pool boy who turned into a business partner. Hulu even has a documentary about the infamous evangelical royalty sex scandal titled: God Forbid. Granda threatened to expose the relationship and claims there were many sex tapes of him having sex with Becki, allegedly filmed by husband, Falwell Jr. It has been cited that Granda believed the sex tapes could be used against him in the future.
Granda eventually did follow through with this deemed course, by way of his tell all Oct. 25,2022, book, Off The Deep End- - Jerry and Becki Falwell and the Collapse of an Evangelical Dynasty. Amazon book reviewer, blueridgesuze, weighs in with sharp clarity in written summary (July 11,2023):
"I live in the Lynchburg area, and love this wonderful area. Most in the community have considered Liberty University a plus for our community and our economy while occasionally being a bit skeptical, having some reservations about the Falwell family empire. But the actual details from this book were the nail in the coffin for me. This account was beyond shocking especially coming from these royalty evangelicals. I could not like any of them, even their children. The Falwell's come across as total sleaze bags. It will be hard to view this large impressive university in the same light as I did previously. That being said,I had no sympathy for Granda. He attempts to make himself more important than he was. His use of high level businessman jargon (as if he was a wealthy seasoned investor dealing with huge real estate transactions) was very hard to swallow. He WAS a "pool boy". It was just way too much of a stretch to believe his far fetched descriptions. He bragged and praised himself too much. Also, I could not buy his self pitying account. He jumped right into the bizarre affair with the Falwell's and seemed to enjoy the perks that it afforded him for very many years. His overall behavior toward other women (girlfriends) in his life was despicable. All of the political, anti Trump propaganda had nothing to do with the behavior and actions of him or the Falwell's and was unnecessary. This was a personal scandal of two parties. This book left me with no respect for the entire Falwell family or Giancarlo Granda. Disgusting people. No one comes across as decent in this book."
SWINGER LIFE-STYLE
Jerry and Becki Falwell have presented themselves to the public as conservative, born-again Christians, and in private as "swingers" (those who share their spouse with others- sexually). From past interviews I have had with those who live such lust based life styles, giving one's spouse gifts of sexual pleasure with another, serves to affirm their true love and mutual trust. As one female married swinger once told me, "I love my husband, and he loves me. What good and loving husband would not want to see their wife receive great sex and orgasmic pleasure from another?"
AMERICA'S POLITICAL ARENA AND THE EVANGELICAL CHRISTIAN BASE:
Criminal intrigue enters the political arena of the evangelical religious right as Falwell Jr. gave endorsement of former President Donald Trump. JERRY FALWELL JR'S REACTION TO THE SEX SCANDAL PROBLEMATIC ISSUES AT CAUSE?
Many news reports cited that Falwell Jr. blamed pressure from self-righteous people caused Liberty University Board to put him on leave and take away his duties as president. In reality, Falwell Jr. displayed a blatant disregard for the evangelical Christian right, and the spiritual legacy his late reverend father, Falwell Sr. left behind. God has given humanity strong warnings against those who practice hypocrisy - Matthew 23. He spits out of His mouth those who are neither hot nor cold, who remain lukewarm - Revelation 3:16.
As an attorney, Falwell Jr. knew the legal ramifications involved with leaving his post at Liberty University. He was paid a severance package if 10.5 million, due in part to his leaving without formal accusation or admission of wrongdoing (Wikipedia-retrieved 12-2-2023). According to Celebrity Net Worth (www.celebritynewworth.com): Jerry Falwell Jr. now has a net worth of $100 million dollars.
On a family relative side note, younger brother - pro-life advocate, Jonathan Falwell, was named Liberty University pastor in April of 2021. And has served as senior pastor of Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg, Virginia, since his father's passing in 2007. Under his leadership the church has planted thousands of churches through the Liberty Church Network.
